How To Make Cakesicles ( Method )
Prepare The Cake
- Get your oven ready at 350°F (175°C). Then, prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by greasing and flouring it.
- Mix the softened butter and granulated sugar in a big bowl until it’s light and fluffy.
- Drop in the eggs individually, making sure to mix well after each one. Then, blend in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and the added salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center.
- leave it to cool
Frosting
using a big bowl mix the softened butter until it turns creamy.
Gradually put the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Mix in the vanilla extract along with 2 tablespoons of heavy cream. But if the frosting ends up being too thick, simply put additional cream, one tablespoon at a time, until you achieve the desired texture.
Assemble the Cakesicles
- After the cake has cooled down, break it into pieces in a big bowl. Gradually mix in the frosting until the mixture is moist enough to stick together. You might not need to use all of the frosting.
- Shape the cake mixture into small ovals, similar in size to a popsicle, and gently insert a popsicle stick into each one. Arrange them on a baking sheet that is lined with parchment paper.
- Freeze the cakesicles for at least 1 hour, or until firm.
Coat and Decorate:
- Follow the instructions on the package to melt the candy melts or white chocolate. If you’re adding food coloring, split the melted candy into different bowls and mix in the colors you want.
- Put each of the cakesicles into the melted candy, gently shaking off any extra. Then, return them to the baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- While the coating is still wet, decorate with sprinkles, edible glitter, or other toppings as you choose.
- Leave the coating to set completely before serving.
Storage Tips
some persons have asked questions or would be asking questions as to the best ways to store the Cakesicles, I shall be pointing them out below to the best of my knowledge
- Short-term storage: For short-term storage, cakesicles should be kept in an airtight container at room temperature for a maximum of 3 days. It is important to store them in a cool, dry location that is shielded from direct sunlight.
- Freezing: Cakesicles can be stored in the freezer for a maximum of 3 months. It is recommended to wrap each Cakesicle individually in plastic wrap and then store them in a container that is safe for the freezer. Before serving, allow the cakesicles to thaw in the refrigerator overnight.
- Long-Term Storage: To prolong the storage time, store the cakesicles in a sealed container and keep them in the refrigerator for a maximum of 1 week. Remember to let them reach room temperature before serving.
- Avoid Humidity: Keep the candy in a dry place to prevent the coating from getting sticky due to moisture, which can alter its texture.
Success Tips
I achieved an amazing result and that was because I followed so many tips which I would recommend to anyone, who would want to replicate Cakesicles with my recipe.
- Firm Cakesicles: Freezing the cakesicles before dipping is crucial. This ensures they hold their shape and don’t fall apart when coated.
- Consistency of Frosting: Ensure that the frosting has a smooth and spreadable texture without being overly liquid. Modify the quantity of cream as necessary to reach the desired consistency.
- Proper Mixing: It is important to mix the cake batter just until the ingredients are combined to avoid ending up with a dense cake.
- Quality Ingredients: Use high-quality ingredients for the best results. Fresh eggs, real butter, and high-quality chocolate or candy melts make a noticeable difference.
- Decorating: Apply the toppings while the coating is still wet to ensure they stick properly. If you’re using several colors, move quickly to prevent the candy from drying out.
